[1000mp] Mark V Filters

Hello Yaesu Fans.....

I had the Yaesu 2.0 filters in both the 2nd and 3rd IFs......I found them of
little real help, as compared to the standard 2.4s which come with the
radio....The skirts were too sloppy to work with effectively, and the
bandpass was not sufficiently narrow, to achieve a significant improvement
over the 2.4s.....

I changed them both to the Inrad 1.8s and have enjoyed the improvement, as
well as the improvement in the operation of the IF shift and width control
at the same time....

I have had no problem with the IDBT following these filters either, the
digital filters work fine....there is never any of the ringing, which I
think you are concerned about.....hiss is not a problem, a slight rotation
of the IF shift will lower the hiss even further....

It is definitely the way to go, I've been down the other trail.....

Happy DXing and 73,

Mike Schatzberg
