I purchased a Mark V Field from Giga-parts on 3/26/02 and received it on =
3/29.
I have never owned a Yaesu product before, but have used some original M=
P+IBk-s
at various friends+IBk stations. I have only had the new rig for two day=
s, but
initial impressions are very positive. =

The Mark V Field is very similar to the Mark V FT-1000MP, the main differ=
ences
being the 100 watt transmitter (25W in Class A mode) and the built-in pow=
er
supply. Otherwise, the specs and control layout appear to be virtually
identical. It is not known whether Yaesu has dealt with some of the repo=
rted
deficiencies that existed in the previous models, such as key clicks and =
IF
hiss.

I have made a few QSO's with the rig, but have not had the opportunity to=
 test
for an extended period in crowded band conditions, so don+IBk-t know how =
the
receiver dynamic range performance is. Will post additional comments as =
I get
more experience. 73, Carl K3RV.
