First off, thanks to Al for officially blessing me as a member of the list -
a little server problem left me in limbo, but that's all fixed. Now to my
problem:
I have a <3 mo old Mark V. Recently, I have noticed a peculiar metering
anomaly. The Power Output bar graph appears not to function on any mode.
For example, when observing the ALC bar and speaking into the mike, there is
one bar graph - the ALC - with nothing showing on Power Out. I have the rig
connected to a external MFJ T-tuner and it shows almost super-normal power
output (~350 watts !). The RF Power adjustment is VERY sensitive - while
observing the meter on the tuner - I have backed it off to about 150 watts.
This does not appear to be band or antenna dependent. When tuning in CW
mode, what used to appear was Power Output and SWR bar graghs - now neither
show up. I worked the 10 meter contest a couple of weeks ago without any
problem and without noticing any of this.
So far, none of this has prevented me from making QSO's ... so far. In
fact, most report that the audio is great and signal reports are fine. I'm
able to drive my Kenwood 922 amp without difficulty or untoward effect.
Any ideas as to what's going on ? Is this a back-to-the-factory repair deal
?
