[1000mp] 1000MP: Loss of CAT

 My 1997-era FT-1000MP  recently stopped conversing with my
 shack computer. Everything else is working.  
 
 I narrowed the problem down to the radio by swapping in 
 my second 'MP. The CAT works fine with the same 
 cabling, computer, and software.
 
 What has been the cost for repair for others that have had
 the CAT serial interface fail on the 'MP?
 
 Is there more than just one repair center for 'MPs (California)?
 
 What has been the most recent experience with Time To Repair?
