Dear Friends:

I've been quietly subscribed here for some time,
monitoring the threads and learning tons about the
FT1000MP. This is an opportunity for me to paraphrase
what I think I've learned and see if I'm on the right track.

I noticed tonight that the 9V on 40 meters wasn't "there"
on my main receiver but was readable on the sub receiver.

I confirmed all settings, filters and so on, were similar.

So I compared the S-meter settings of the main and sub
receivers and on 40 meters the main receiver S-meter
displayed several units lower than the sub.

Here's what I did:

1. I changed the receive pre-amp from "Tuned" to "Flat"
via the internal menu selection. My hope is this eliminates
any attenuation the pre-amp adds to the lower bands.

2. I raised the menu 9-1 setting from 11 to 13, arrived at
by comparing S-meter readings on .a relatively weak signal.

3. I rechecked S-meter readings, and weak signals are
now dead-on on both receivers. I listened for excessive
high-frequency audio hiss and didn't notice any.

I was too late to work the 9V, but I'll have another shot tomorrow.

Did this make sense? 73, HNY from Byron
