Unfortunately, this same formatting nightmare has been true with every
mailing list to which I belong.  I get nothing but admin overhead on the
whole first page of every message.

All that would have to happen would be to move that information to the
bottom of the messages, where they are in virtually every other mailing
list software package I know of.
