You don't have to use the ATU to hear the thumps.  They're quite
indistinct and heard only when you tune across the 81.92 kHz harmonic
frequency in SSB mode.  In CW-USB mode, they're the 81.92 kHz harmonic
frequency plus the pitch setting and in the CW-LSB mode they're minus the
pitch setting.  Listen closely -- you'll hear them!
